    I really miss the days in America, especially the days at MMUN----

    Before I know the MMUN, I thought that the United Nations is far away from us. But I changed my opinion during the three days and learned quite a lot there.

    It was my first time to wear suits while taking part in the MMUN. I felt that I was just like a real delegate of the country I was representing. As a member of the delegation of Slovakia, we prepared a lot before the meeting. So we know quite a lot about the country just like we are the citizen of Slovakia. It was very different to look at the world and consider about the problems of the world through a single country’s point of view. We had learned to think about the solutions and to write resolutions on the problems we were dealing with. We learned how to communicate with the delegations of other countries and how to fight for our own country’s benefit.

    We have prepared two position papers carefully for the legal committee at home. Most of the delegations discussed about the problems there and added some solution to the problem into the resolution we wrote. We were able to be one of the sponsors for each of the resolutions we prepared. I really respect the delegation of Cuba (I remember they are from Canada) which set a motion to discuss the problem of Cuba and America relationship and tried their best to protect Cuba in the final document.

    I was quite excited to be called to the front by the president of our committee at the end of the meeting. She told me that I was selected as one of the outstanding delegates and I was welcomed to be the president of committees in the future meetings. I had given my email address to her and I’m still regretting now that I didn’t ask for her name card then.

    We also made a lot of friends during the meeting. I’m still in email with a girl from Canada in MMUN frequently. We had known each other during the meeting because our speaking caught each other’s attention. We even took a picture together at the UN Assembly!

    After 3 days of meeting, 10 days in total in America, we finally had to get back to Beijing. We just known each other in the Beijing team well like a family but it was time to say bye. We agreed to meet each other in America the next time because some of them are going to go to America for high school.

    We cannot believe that we can discuss the problem and solutions for the world, but actually, we were. The purpose of the MMUN is ‘Inspiring Youth’. Our generation is going to be the leader of the world in ten or more years. Maybe some of us will be able to be the delegation in the UN for their own countries. The future is ours!

    Thanks to all the teachers who helped organized this unforgettable activity. Hope I can be lucky enough to get email from the legal committee president and has opportunity to join MMUN again next year!
